Continuing Education

Important note for interior designers registered in the state of Texas:

All continuing education courses have been cumulatively reviewed and approved by the Interior Design Continuing Education Council [IDCEC], the organization that serves as a central entity for the sharing of interior design continuing education information, approval, and registration. The four IDCEC CORE Member organizations – ASID [American Society of Interior Designers], IDC [Interior Designers of Canada], IDEC [Interior Design Educators Council], & IIDA [International Interior Design Association] - work together to approve continuing education courses. Class coding for all CEUs are designated in each course description.  This coding extends to those classes with Health / Safety / Welfare [HSW] content that count toward the required eight (8) hours per year by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners [TBAE] for Registered Interior Designers. TBAE calls courses with HSW content CEPHs or Continuing Education Program Hours.

Please know that in the state of Texas, it ultimately is the discretion of the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners [TBAE] – the regulatory agency that oversees the examination, registration, and professional regulation of interior designers, as well as architects and landscape architects – to deem a course as HSW, not IDCEC. To download a TBAE CEPH log sheet to keep track of your continuing education hours, please visit the TBAE website: www.tbae.state.tx.us.
